![]() RS and Element don't list it, and Wagner's website is a mess. I'm a bit lost on getting a sub with the same specs. If one or both of these are going away, could that be the source of the problem? Been smashed by all sorts of line level signals. From the input where pretty much first in line is a pair of 2SK246's, in what I'm guessing is a Darlington pair for a buffer. ![]() So have started to trace the circuit out. Can't see any cracked tracks or hot joints. Tried a guitar directly into the input, does the same. I mean, this thing is loud as hell, the amp was skipping across the bench! Not like it's down on power! This thing has always been as loud as.Ĭlean tones from the preamp just don't get through properly (crackle all of the time). It's when the sound decays, it is crackly like an old noise gate chattering (if you know what they sound like). If the signal is strong, it plays through. Thought it was the bias pot, changed it with no result. Changed filter caps as well as all of the electrolytic caps in the circuit. What I've done so far, is changed the TIP Transistors on the output described in the OP. Tested the preamp (Johnson J-Station) into a Crate Power Block today (can be used as stereo line level input poweramp), as well as into the Mesa Mkiii effects return. Don't want to just keep swapping parts for nothing.
